The PC Gaming conference was held by PC Gamer and there was A LOT of indie titles as well as a few bigger games being presented. The show was nice to watch and felt very smooth so it didn’t get tedious to watch. The hosts were actually fun to listen to and very into their job based on my experience as a viewer.
Sinking City was the first game that caught my interest in the show. They mentioned investigation, monsters and being inspired by Lovecraft so that is more than enough for me to get curious. A detective game that doesn’t hold your hand and guide also feels interesting. I am also a bit nervous about there being little to no guiding, but I can make do with having to think once in a while. The game did look a tiny bit clunky in the footage, but it’s hard to say how it will actually play in the end. The game does not have a release date yet.
For those who do not know me: I am a massive JRPG fan. I have no idea what this game is about, only that it plays kind of like the Tales of games and that it looks pretty. It also reminds me of Ar Tonelico 2 with it’s aesthetic. So in other words: I really, really want it. I do like to trust my gut feeling when it comes to games and I this one feels brilliant. The game is set to release for the first time in the West on July 10th, 2018.
Jurassic World: Evolution turned up in my Steam recommendations a few days ago and I actually liked it already then. To put it really simply it’s essentially Roller Coaster Tycoon with dinosaurs. I like that kind of games in general, but seeing how you have to solve problems, like a runaway T-Rex, does give it a bit of extra depth to keep things interesting. The game has actually been released yesterday, so if it seems interesting you can already get your claws on it!
Continuing on the Tycoon theme: Two Point Hospital. I played Theme Hospital way back in the day sometime, somewhere and found it really fun. This is a spiritual successor to that title and seemed pretty similar. There was quite a bit of humor in the game and it seems pretty family-friendly as well! For those not familiar with the earlier title: It’s a humorous take on a hospital simulator. There isn’t a set release date, but the game should be out in 2018.
Now… This title isn’t family friendly. For those familiar with the comics by Cyanide and Happiness: Yes, it’s very much a Cyanide and Happiness game based on the first look. The start of the story is that Rapture has happened and you get to play the people who did not go to heaven. I will recommend this game to my SO and sneakily enjoy it from his library with exactly zero shame.
If you want to check out all the other titles from the show you can find the whole conference here: PC Gaming Show.
Those were the games that I found interesting from today’s shows! Now don’t worry, we’re through most of the gaming content for this week. Just two conferences and a roundup left. I’m telling this more for myself than you, but it’s good to keep the morale high. So join me tomorrow for the Sony and Nintendo conferences, once again split up for both our convenience. See you tomorrow!
